we were asked to draw your attention to the following call for applications for DAAD scholarships. We kindly ask you to forward this information to interested students, if possible:



2 DAAD GSSP Scholarships

The scholarships are available from October 1st, 2019.

DAAD scholarships for international candidates are available for four years.

We welcome applications from graduates aiming to write their doctoral thesis at the Bamberg Graduate School of Social Sciences. A scholarship will enable you to develop an excellent research proposal and submit it to appropriate funding bodies. The school supports scholarship holders through personal mentoring, workshops and support services.

The Bamberg Graduate School of Social Sciences is a multidisciplinary Graduate School funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of the German Excellence Initiative. We are seeking to stimulate and guide cutting-edge doctoral research on some of the most crucial challenges modern knowledge-based societies are facing.

Specialised research agendas have been grouped into four thematic pillars:


Education, personal development and learning from early childhood to adulthood


Educational and social inequality across the entire life course


Changes in human capital, labour markets and demographic structures and their impact on social structures in modern societies


Governance, institutional change and political behaviour

We are inviting applications by highly qualified graduates from the fields of Sociology, Psychology, Educational Science, Political Science, Labour and Educational Economics, Demography and Statistics. Candidates must hold a Master‘s degree (or equivalent) in one of the aforementioned subjects or be very close to completion. International applications are encouraged but successful applicants will be required to take up their residence in Bamberg, a city noted for its high quality of life and great conditions for research and study. DAAD scholarships amount to a monthly stipend of 1,200 EUR, plus insurance and other allowances according to the DAAD guidelines. gerne möchten wir Sie auf neue Fortbildungsseminare von „Kultur und Sprache“ aufmerksam machen. „Kultur und Sprache“ ist ein Programm des österreichischen Bundesministeriums für Bildung, Wissenschaft und Forschung (BMBWF). Für das Jahr 2019 werden 5 internationale Fortbildungsseminare für Deutschlehrende und Germanisteninnen und Germanisten, deren Erstsprache nicht Deutsch ist, angeboten.

Am 11.-12. Dezember 2018 organisierte der Ukrainische Deutschlehrer- und Germanistenverband Fortbildungsseminare für ukrainische DeutschlehrerInnen zu Fragen zeitgemäßer Didaktik und Methodik des Fremdsprachenunterrichts. Thematisch widmeten sich die Seminare dem Zusammenhang zwischen der Sprache und zentralen sozialen Werten: "Werte und Wertevermittlung im DaF-Unterricht". Bei dem Begriff „Werte“ stützen wir uns auf deren Definition im Werk „Psychologie der Werte“ (2016) von Dieter Frey: „Grundsätze, nach denen eine Gesellschaft oder eine Gruppe von Menschen ihr Zusammenleben richtet oder richten will“.
